This week we flikr'd

Well we flickr 'd some time ago.Loaded a few unusual photos into the cyber photo album
Unfortunately I can't get a link from Flikr to this blog so I'll tell you all about it.
You see we live across the road from a cemetery. Cats and dogs and birds just like open space but people have a different view of the area.
The photos on Flikr are of an old monument that was moved from the old Melbourne Cemetery, where the Queen Victoria Market is now, to Fawkner Cemetery.
It's interesting to note that this monument is littered with symbols that convey information of the man and the times he lived and died.
Memorials and gravestones are intended to be eternal sources of information....look at ancient Egypt.
Nowadays we are bombarded with information but most of it is ephemeral..T.V, radio, internet, blogs, magazines and even books. The information is with us a short time then gone (even books, a bit of water or lick of fire and gone...gone forever!)
CDs and DVDs have a limited lifespan..and even if they survived would the technology support them?
All this has come about quickly and recently...TV in Australia is 50 years old, Radio about 100 years.
Some old bakelite records are still around in Grandma's attic or shed but the gramaphone is long gone!
